We're All In This Together - The Place To Let Your Constructive Voice Be Heard
I am pleased you found your way to this website. After all, We Are All In This Together. I am sick of and absolutely intolerant of politicians and mal-motivated special interest groups telling untruths, distortions, and telling the 300 plus million Americans what we think. You know the story -listen to a few discussions with one of those people. He/she quickly says something like: "What the American people want/ or are telling us is..." Then (s)he continues to dribble on and distort his/her message to say what he/she wanted to say or do --- in the first place. The politicians are not representing us like they are legally obligated to do and took an oath to do. Instead, they are doing the bidding of the people who paid for their services with monetary contributions.
This is a humble effort to elicit substantial input and specific recommendations from as many citizens as possible - so we can "lead" the politicians to do their jobs.(See Task List).
Why do we need to do this: One very vivid 2012 examples was the unnecessary and irresponsible debacle of raising the current debt limit. It was a fabricated and dishonest waste of time. It cost the economy almost $1 Trillion Dollars in losses and yet not One single job was created. While it is ok and acceptable to discuss/argue whether we are spending too much or too little on the federal government or giving away too much or too little to the free market capitalists, it is not acceptable to threaten to not pay the bills for goods and services we already consumed. Unfortunately there is a plethora of examples that demonstrate the ineffectiveness of our current political decision-making process, (Opinion Page will contain detailed examples.)
The objective of this advocacy effort is for citizens' most important needs and priorities to be presented, recorded as a list, and provided to our politicians. This list, with required actions and time lines will serve as their marching orders to manage the nation according to the people, not the way the politicians choose to interpret and distort history, convenient data, and fragmented input.
Selective distortions is what politicians are currently doing and have historically done. (History page to contain examples.) All that accomplishes is for politicians to give lip service to caring about the priorities of the majority of Americans while focusing their actions (votes) to meet the "wants" of their largest financial contributors.
Politicians will only act in a manner that supports the well being of the majority of the population, not their money donors, IF we mandate that they act for the vast majority of citizens not just for the financial profits of their monetary contributors and those that promise them a favored position once they leave office. This behaviorial discription and indictment is factual and is true of any political party; any period of time, past, present, and the planning they are conducting for the future; the House of Representatives; the Senate; the Presidential Administration; and the Supreme Court - as a personification of the Judicial system. The Supreme Court is not an objective body that protects Americans from political bias and legal errors. It is a highly partisan group of lawyers. And their political biases influence societal norms for decades as they currently serve for life. (Opinin page and Topic page will have thorough discussion.)
"The government" is not the problem. "Big business" is not the problem. Those are too broad of terms and are used to deliberately confuse and influence the public. Let us separate components and more accurately define cohorts/ groups and their responsibilities.
Government employees and agencies are not the problem(s). They do what is instructed by their supervisors and managers. Most of them are well-intentioned and effective employees, doing what you and I would want them to do.
"The politicians" and the political process are the problems. Actually, "We the people" are the problem. We have allowed politicians to have virtually no controls and sanctions on their job performance, their salaries, their benefits, their working days and hours, their personal behavior. History has proven that without strict policies and regulations over the politicians, they have been and will continue to only represent those who provide money for their re-election campaigns. Their primary focus to to keep their fairly comfortable and glamorous positions. These positions are reasonably high salaried positions; amounts of salaries are set by themselves; there are no performance guidelines for achievements; no punishment for poor performance. In spite of the fact that a small percentage get voted out of office at each election cycle, consider the larger percentage that have been there for many years; consider the percentage who get re-elected in spite of their poor legislative activity. Check out the number who leave office as millionaires when they entered with only modest financial means.
Socialism, nanny state, the racist "welfare moms" tag, Many complain about not wanting a socialist society; not wanting universal healthcare for all citizens; yet they will receive very handsome welfare provided by the nation - while at the same time they deny services for a substantial percentage of the population; enough for now; you get the idea.
Our Advocacy
We are focused on having many individuals determine the direction of the country, not self-serving politicians and not money rich groups or individuals who can buy legislative decisions. We are determined on securing the constructive input of well-meaning people, of all age groups. We want to communicate together, with people who value honest and civil discussions as a platform for exchanging ideas and creating "The" Laundry List of Actions that we demand congress accomplish.
Important Dates
As we develop this advocacy and when specific dates for particular action or input is required, we will generate those dates. Currently, the important date to consider is the impending presidential election and election of members of congress who will be up for election and re-election. With a lot of hard work, we can appropriately influence the actions that congress and the president take. They all work for us.
